Biography
Art as Therapy.
That is the central thread of my work. The processes I engage with all centralize on the therapeutic power that art holds as a way to encourage self reflection, wellbeing and growth. Mapmaking, weaving, and creating environments are just a few ways I process and reflect on the experiences and emotions in my life. As a multimedia artist, I explore all types of media that I can use to give form to intangible feelings. Ultimately, in creating my work, I hope to connect with myself and the public on the collective experience of pain and healing.
Growing up in Oakland, New Jersey, I became interested in the arts from an early age. Although my attention to art was neglected during high school, my use of art as a catharsis to navigate difficult periods in the coming years drew me back to my passion and led me to art therapy.
Sarah produced a solo exhibition in October of 2021 called State of Being and was part of a group exhibition in May of 2022 titled Anthology. Her work has also been featured on the Canadian Art Therapy Association's Online Magazine, Envisage Winter 2022: Becoming as well as in Grey Cube Gallery.
